Why we started Embark

Remember how easy friendships were when we were younger? At a moment’s notice, you could fill a car for a last minute road trip to anywhere. Those frequent, spontaneous interactions developed into some of the best friendships. Years on, people have commitments and finding a group of friends to join an adventure can be hard. You could go alone, but it’s always been more fun with others.

We founded Embark for people who want to share their travel experience with others while working remotely and pursuing their passions. We live in an exciting time where many of us aren’t forced to choose between our careers and our desire to travel. Embark is about facilitating both.

This is our passion and we hope you’ll be a part of our story. Let’s embark together.

“The impulse to travel is one of the hopeful symptoms of life.”

-Agnes Repplier

Building supportive and inspiring communities.

We think shared experiences are the best experiences. We are dedicated to building diverse and supportive communities who inspire one another.

Making remote work frictionless.

Frictionless process are (often) the most enjoyable. We are constantly searching for ways to make working remotely seamless so that plugging into somewhere new is easy and enjoyable.

Justin Dobson

Justin leads the recruiting efforts at Embark. For the past 5 years, Justin worked at an investment bank in Canada and admits he spent a lot of time behind a desk. He has always had a passion for travel and says backpacking by himself through China in 2007 was a life defining experience. Justin has a large collection of hats and you’ll often catch him with his headphones in listening to the Tim Ferriss show.

Dave Hansford

Dave heads up content creation at Embark. He has a background in political science, psychology, and law. Prior to joining Embark, he spent several years as a corporate lawyer for a firm based in Canada. Dave has traveled extensively through Asia and Europe and rode a bicycle across South America twice. Dave also enjoyed a brief acting stint on the show Smallville. You can usually find where Dave is by checking his Instagram story.

Fraser Sinclair

Fraser leads the trip logistics at Embark. He spent the past 6 years living in Europe, Russia and the Middle East while working Olympic, United Nations and other special events. Fraser once attempted to row a 21 foot row boat across the Atlantic ocean. He also set a world record for longest rescue by a helicopter at sea. These two stories are related.
